Baumann keeps a clean sheet in DFB Gala
On Saturday evening, the full force of the German national team was unleashed. During the 7-0 (3-0) win against Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Nations League, Oliver Baumann was able to witness an exceptional performance from the offensive players, yet remained focused for the whole game and was always there to step in when he was needed. As was the case directly before half time, when the visiting team had their biggest chance of the game: suddenly, there was no one between Armin Gigovic of Holstein Kiel and Baumann in goal - but Baumann made sure that the one-on-one ended in his favour.
"The game was crazy. I'm really happy to have kept a clean sheet again in my second international game. My family and a lot of my friends were here in the stadium today. We didn't stop applying pressure and defending vigorously. The evening was more than a success. I'm happy that I was there when it got hairy. It's good when I can help the team in those situations," said Baumann after the match.
And so Baumann kept a clean sheet in his second international game too. In the upcoming international game against Hungary, however, Baumann will be watching from the sidelines again, and Alexander Nübel of VfB Stuttgart will celebrate his second international appearance.
