Bülter: "We deserved to take all three points"

Here’s what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 1-1 draw with FC Augsburg:

Leo Østigård: "I think we were the better team today. In the first half, we should have scored a goal based on our superiority. That is why the point is almost too little and we are a little sad. But we showed character and played good football after going behind. Augsburg hadn't conceded a goal for a very long time and we carved out a lot of chances. But that's football. We should have scored the goals. I believe in the team. If we look at one game at a time, then the points will come."

Marius Bülter: "One point is too little. We could have done with three points today, and we would have deserved them. It's annoying and disappointing. The game was actually quite okay, but we were responsible for our own downfall. For their goal, our minds were probably still in the dressing room, and we were all caught napping. We certainly cannot be accused of not showing commitment or fighting spirit, but at the moment things are not quite that easy. We just don't have the greatest confidence in our game, as you can see in some of the actions: We are lacking in the end product, the final ball or a spot of luck when it comes to finishing."

Oliver Baumann: "I don't know exactly what to make of the point, how to classify it. The game was open. We had a lot of possession, we did put them under pressure, we played a lot around the box, but we are not dangerous enough, we have too few shots on goal. We need to find solutions to win games against teams that play a low block. It's extremely frustrating, but it doesn't help us. We have to keep going to get out of trouble. You can see that the team has the desire, but sometimes there is also a lack of self-confidence. We need points now. "

Christian Ilzer: "We really wanted to win at home. It's been an eternity. Going into the game, Augsburg had been the second best team since the winter break. They are unbeaten in 11 matches and hadn't conceded a goal for a long time. I am reasonably satisfied with the performance of my team. We did not make the most of a lot of transitions. For their goal, it was a long string of errors. It is never good to fall behind against Augsburg. I think the equaliser was well deserved, even though the penalty was very controversial."

Jess Thorup (FC Augsburg head coach): "I can tell that we are disappointed. Disappointed about our performance. I am not satisfied with the first half. That's why I wanted to change something during the break. In the second half, we got better, and Arne Maier even had the chance to seal the victory. The penalty is incredibly annoying. There are a lot of things I could say, but I don't want to talk about referees anymore, so I won't comment on it."
