Hoffenheim 2-1 FC Augsburg (1-1) – German Cup last 16

1899 Hoffenheim reached the quarter-finals of the German Cup this evening after beating FC Augsburg 2-1 in the WIRSOL Rhein-Necker-Arena. Find out here what the managers and players of the respective sides had to say about the result.

Holger Stanislawski: It was important to see that we could sustain a good performance for longer than 30 minutes. I'm delighted that we could end the year on a high.

Jos Luhukay: We had a couple of good opportunities in the first half. The game was decided by two set-pieces and a great left-foot strike by Salihovic. My team played well today.

Sejad Salihovic: We deserved to win. We were solid throughout today, and we played very well as a team. The early goal at the start of the second half was important and we managed to keep our concentration for the rest of the game. Vedo and I have a great understanding; you saw that at with the second goal.

Vedad Ibisevic: We knew that it wasn't going to be easy, but we're happy that we've made it into the next round.

Jannik Vestergaard: We're pleased to be in the last eight, and we played a good game. I'd like to thank the fans; they were fantastic for us tonight.

Andreas Beck: Games are never easy in the cup. But we wanted to reach the last eight, and we managed that. It was the right antidote after the Hertha Berlin game.
