TSG Hoffenheim loan Tim Drexler to 1. FC Nürnberg
"Tim is a highly talented player who fundamentally has all the makings of a modern defender. However, a player as young as Tim needs game time at the highest possible level to continue his development. For this reason, we have jointly come to the conclusion that a loan would make absolute sense at this stage of his development and we are convinced that in ambitious second division club 1. FC Nürnberg, we have found a team where he can take the next steps in his development over the coming months," said Andreas Schicker, the Managing Director for Sport at TSG.
Tim Drexler joined TSG Hoffenheim's academy at the age of 11 and has since progressed through all of the Kraichgau club's youth ranks. In the 2023/2024 season, he was a permanent fixture and a first-team regular in Hoffenheim's Regionalliga team and was named in the first-team squad for the first time in the 3-2 away win at Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 23. Drexler then made his Bundesliga debut on Matchday 25 in TSG's visit to Eintracht Frankfurt and went on to make appearances in a further 15 Bundesliga matches. Drexler has also made a total of 24 appearances for TSG's Regionalliga team (one goal) in his fledgling career.
He has represented all of the German Football Association's (DFB) youth teams since U16 level. The 19-year-old central defender currently plays for the Germany U20 national team.
