TSG eSPORTS lose to RB Leipzig despite impressive debut from 'Lubappe6‘
In the summer, ‘Lubappe6’ from TSG eAKADEMIE was called up to the team for the VBL Club Championship, and on Thursday he celebrated his debut - and promptly vindicated this decision by delivering a strong performance and showing great coolness. The evening probably held the biggest challenge in store: he was up against the reigning world champion Anders ‘RBLZ_Vejrgang’ Vejrgang. Although ‘Lubappe6’ quickly trailed 1-0, he then fought his way back into the game and looked likely to cause a shock on several occasions. A double strike after strong combinations and quick attacks (5, 26) opened up a 2-1 lead, which was extended to 3-2 at half-time. Although ‘Lubappe6’ conceded an equalising goal in the 61st minute, he nevertheless celebrated a successful debut with a 3-3 draw.
Unfortunately, it was still not enough for TSG to win, as Hoffenheim conceded their second defeat of the season against RB Leipzig. The first four matchdays of the new season had seen victories against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FC Nürnberg and FC Augsburg as well as a defeat against SV Darmstadt 98. With nine points, TSG are currently sixth in the South-East Division, three points behind Leipzig in second place.
‘whiteezz05’ provides a glimmer of hope late on
The doubles had previously gone to the runners-up: Aymane ‘AYMANE’ Mokallik and Fabrice ‘whiteezz05’ Weiß initially had an open exchange of blows with ‘RBLZ_Vejrgang’ and Umut ‘RBLZ_Umut’ Gültekin. Our duo equalised twice (16, 45+2), but it was only after the break that RB dominated. In the end, ‘AYMANE’ and ‘whiteezz05’ suffered a 6-3 defeat. After the subsequent draw by ‘Lubappe6’ against ‘RBLZ_Vejrgang’, the best our team could have achieved was a draw. This would have required a win for ‘whiteezz05’ against ‘RBLZ_Umut’.
And things did indeed look good at first: ‘whiteezz05’ was ahead twice (6, 30), but gradually the four-time German eFootballer of the Year took control and went 3-2 in front shortly before the break (41). It was only in the closing stages that ‘whiteezz05’ equalised, scoring 3:3 after a pass into the top corner - giving our team renewed hope of winning a point. Another counter-attack was stopped by the defence before ‘whiteezz05’ were finally knocked out in stoppage time with the score at 4-3 (90+2).
TSG now face 1. FSV Mainz 05 next Wednesday in Matchday 6 of the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship by WOW, which will be broadcast LIVE on the Twitch channel as usual.
