#VFBTSG: Hoffenheim's away run and Stuttgart's record

The Baden-Württemberg derby is upon us on Saturday (15:30 CET, live updates on tsg-hoffenheim.de), as TSG Hoffenheim travel to VfB Stuttgart looking to continue their outstanding run of away form. Stuttgart, on the other hand, have to do without their top goalscorer. We have put together all the exciting and interesting facts about the game in the state capital.

Did you know that …

… Stuttgart are on a long winning streak?

VfB have won their last six Bundesliga games, scoring 19 goals and conceding just three goals in that period. It is the Stuttgart side's longest winning streak since spring 2010. Only once in their history have VfB won more games in succession – in the 2006/07 title-winning season, when they managed eight victories on the bounce.

… VfB have made an outstanding start to the season?

Stuttgart have already bagged 21 points after eight games, which is the best start to a season in the club's history. Stuttgart have already won as many games (seven) this season as they managed in the entire 2022/23 season.

… TSG are the best away team in the league so far?

Hoffenheim are the only team in the Bundesliga not to drop any points on the road and have celebrated four victories in a row. In the 2022/23 season, TSG managed just three victories away from the Kraichgau. In Bundesliga history, only two teams have won their first five away games in a season: Borussia Dortmund in 2010/11 and Bayern Munich in 2012/13.

… the battle of two strikers in red hot form will have to wait?

Maxi Beier has scored in six of his last seven Bundesliga games and is the top German scorer in the league alongside Leroy Sane. The 21-year-old has hit the net in every away game so far this season. Meanwhile, Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy has bagged the most goals in the Bundesliga this season, but he will not get the chance to add to his tally of 14 goals on Saturday, as the Frenchman is out injured.

… the coaches are facing their old clubs?

Last week, Pellegrino Matarazzo celebrated his 100th game as head coach in the Bundesliga. For 77 of those games, he was in charge of VfB Stuttgart. In the opposing dugout will be Sebastian Hoeness, who was head coach at TSG for 68 games. Both coaches also have a higher average number of points at their current club than at their former club.
