Julian Justvan: "I'm embracing the competition"

The ball is in motion again and the lads are back on the pitch. After the first training session of the season, new signing Julian Justvan spoke about his first impressions, the reasons for his transfer from SC Paderborn to TSG Hoffenheim and his personal goals for the season.

Julian, how was the first training session in a TSG shirt?

"It was a demanding session to start off with. The first session is normally always slightly calmer as you get into the swing of things, but it was all systems go straightaway. I noticed today that the quality here is completely different and that everything happens much faster. It's important for me now to get used to it as quickly as possible in the next few days."

What were the reasons for your transfer to TSG?

"The talks with TSG went very well and I think that this is the best place for my sporting development. In addition, the overall philosophy and the system here in Hoffenheim are a very good fit for me. I think the wide positions – regardless of which side – suit me the best. I've already played there in Paderborn too. I have my freedom in this position, can make an impact in attack and showcase my strengths. So the conditions here are optimal, which is why the decision to join TSG was pretty easy for me."

Have you set yourself goals for the season?

"For me, it's important that I think step by step. First of all, I want to settle in here, get to know the environment and feel comfortable. Because if my well-being is good, the performances will come automatically. Of course, I know I can't be a regular here from day one. But I want to showcase myself in pre-season and embrace the competition."

Have you already settled in to some degree in the region?

"We already moved here a week ago and have found something nice. That was very important to me so that I can concentrate completely on pre-season from the start of training. By doing so, I've already put the stress of moving behind me. Our first impression of the region is very positive."
