Rosen addresses violent conduct against Georginio
Sunday
TSG played with 10 men for more than 70 minutes in their 3-1 loss away to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. But the fact that a Gladbach player could also well have been sent off but was not punished by the referees irritates the TSG management.
Georginio was taken out off the ball during a counter-attack in the 45th minute, but the referees were not made aware of the offence despite there being clear television images. "For me, it is annoying to have to speak about the refereeing display again on the very first matchday," said Alexander Rosen, the TSG Hoffenheim director of football, adding: "This has nothing to do with the sending-off against us. But I felt there was a real lack of balance and presence. It was too often smug and anything but commanding. The clearly visible assault on Georginio, which was incomprehensibly not punished, was a serious incident. That alone was clearly to our disadvantage."
Of the match, Rosen said: "There's no reason to criticise the boys. Quite the contrary. We had to play a man down for more than 70 minutes in the opening game of the season, showed the right attitude and gave everything. It unfortunately wasn't enough in the end."
Wednesday
Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim will be without captain Benjamin Hübner for the foreseeable future. The 33-year-old sustained an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his left ankle in the DFB-Pokal tie away to SV Rödinghausen last Sunday.
