Personnel & tactics:

Head coach Sebastian Hoeness made two changes to the starting XI that drew 3-3 with Molde FK. Florian Grillitsch replaced the suspended Kevin Vogt and lined up alongside Kasim Adams and Chris Richards in a back three in front of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. Pavel Kadeřábek started on the right in place of the injured Mijat Gaćinović, while Marco John kept his place on the left. The midfield of Diadie Samassékou, Sebastian Rudy and Christoph Baumgartner remained unchanged, as did the strike partnership of Ihlas Bebou and Munas Dabbur.

TSG made their first substitution in the 64th minute, bringing on Andrej Kramarić for Dabbur. Sebastian Hoeness gave some more players a run-out in the closing stages, introducing Melayro Bogarde and Sargis Adamyan in place of Kadeřábek and Rudy (82). Bebou moved over to the right, with Adamyan up front and Bogarde alongside Kramarić in the middle of the park. Later on, Ryan Sessegnon made his comeback: the Englishman and Georginio Rutter were brought on in the 87th minute in place of Bebou and Baumgartner.

Moment of the match:

The fourth and final goal by Georginio Rutter: the new signing marked his debut appearance in his new sporting home with a goal, receiving a square ball from Bogarde on the edge of the box, controlling it and firing left-footed into the corner.

Match highlights

12. Min.

The highly agile John surges down the left and crosses low into the centre. Baumgartner meets it with a first-time shot but it's too central and goes straight at Pavlenka. What a great chance!

26. Min.

Samassékou plays a sensational chip in behind the defence. Bebou beats Toprak for pace and keeps his cool in front of Pavlenka, curling a low shot into the bottom corner. The goal is initially disallowed for offside but Bebou clearly isn't in an offside position. VAR intervenes and the goal stands.

44. Min.

The second goal comes on the stroke of half-time: Dabbur loses the ball following a pass from Baumgartner, but the Austrian wins it back, fights his way through the centre and shoots low to double the lead.

49. Min.

A textbook counter-attack: Bebou and Rudy play a one-two and once again the TSG forward makes the most of his speed to break through down the right. His cross into the centre perfectly picks out Dabbur, who brings the ball under control brilliantly before firing into the far corner.

64. Min.

Rudy and Bebou cause problems down the right once again. The striker's cross finds Kramarić, but Gebre Selassie blocks his shot to keep the deficit to three goals for the time being.

90. Min.

Debut appearance in his new sporting home and he scores straightaway: Bogarde squares to Rutter on the edge of the box. The new signing controls the ball and fires left-footed into the bottom corner from 18 metres.
