Huber to head up scouting, Korzynietz joins academy
"Nowadays, it is essential for a Bundesliga club to have a strong team of highly qualified experts to ensure the success and sustainability of its sporting work. Our personnel and conceptual structures have been a decisive factor for the positive development of TSG in the past, and I believe that the decisions taken in recent weeks and months leave us excellently positioned for the future too," said Alexander Rosen, the director of professional football, whose department has now returned to full strength following the departure of Michael Mutzel to 2. Bundesliga outfit Hamburg in February this year. Bastian Huber, 39, was appointed to head up scouting at the start of July, and he arrives at TSG with a wealth of experience from different roles in football and a comprehensive network at his disposal. Huber, who trained as a sports and economics teacher, holds an A license as a coach. In addition, he has coordinated a number of training courses for coaches on behalf of the Association of German Football Coaches (BDFL) and worked as a youth academy coach at second-tier club SpVgg Greuther Fürth. "In addition to leading our scouting department, Bastian will work closely with me to provide support on both external and internal matters on the operating side and take on further responsibilities on the sporting side," explained Rosen.
"According to the club's philosophy, our objective is not only to achieve a successful performance in the Bundesliga, but also to gain highly promising talents for our academy, to develop them to a top level and then to promote them to our senior squad," said Rosen. In order to live up to the demanding requirements and growing responsibilities in youth development, the position of "Coordinator for squad planning" has been created for the U23 Regionalliga team and the youth teams from U16 to U19 level to provide director Dirk Mack with support. The former player Bernd Korzynietz (pictured below) has been appointed to this position. The 39-year-old, who has already spent a spell working for TSG as a full-time scout, made almost 170 Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach and Arminia Bielefeld during a distinguished playing career and has developed an outstanding network from his many years working in football.
Gross and Vollmar also new
Timo Gross has already been working in Alfred Schreuder's coaching staff as assistant coach for match analysis since the start of the month. He has already been closely involved in first-team affairs during his time as coordinator for match analysis. Gross joined TSG in the autumn of 2013 and leads the expanded "Match Analysis Department" alongside his position as an assistant coach. Another new arrival over the summer has been Maximilian Vollmar, 33, as the new team manager. He joins the club from 1. FC Cologne, where he held the same position for eight years.
