Oliver Baumann: "I'll yell at anyone!"
Oli, you finally won and got a clean sheet...
Oliver Baumann: "It's true. It's the first time since we beat Stuttgart at home. Personally, I prefer winning 1-0 to 4-3. I imagine that's the case for all goalkeepers. On Saturday though, I just wanted us to win - regardless of how. The clean sheet was just a bonus. We adapted to our surroundings in Augsburg. We went long more and worked hard to win the knockdowns. That was the foundation for our win."
You also made a great save to deny your friend Jonathan Schmid. Have you spoken since?
Baumann: "Yeah, straight after the game. Not about the save in the first half though but about his life outside of football and the free-kick in the second half. That was an odd one as we've known each other for years. 'Johnny' has a great right foot on him and he's hit many free-kicks past me before. We know each other's game. It's both a pro and a con to know each other inside out in this scenario. Let's just say I was happy when it went over the bar."
Why did you shout at Kevin Akpoguma at full-time?
Baumann: "Kevin was shattered and lying on the ground as he'd given everything he could. I thought he's played very well and I was just celebrating with him. I let out my joy as a scream."
Will you be screaming on Saturday after our game against Wolfsburg?
Baumann: "I hope so! We're giving our all to make sure that's the case."
Do you have good or bad memories of the game earlier this season? You saved a penalty but then let one in late on so it ended 1-1.
Baumann: "I'd have to say they're negative as the saved penalty didn't mean we came out on top. We were disappointed as we'd led for a long time and were the better team. We want more than one point from that game."
Wolfsburg are currently in 15th place. What are you expecting on Saturday?
Baumann: "The Wolfsburg squad has a lot more quality than their place in the table shows. They're a good team with good individual players who can cause problems. Therefore, we have to be ready to fight and be disciplined for 90 minutes. We have to work as hard as we did in Augsburg but play better football in front of our own fans. It'll be hard work but I think if we work hard we can win."
Your teammate, Andrej Kramaric, is firing on all cylinders right now. Can you put in such a level of performance in goal?
Baumann: "I'm happy for Andrej that he keeps scoring. He learnt a lot from his tough patch in the first half of the season and has now come on leaps and bounds. He's in that mood where he feels like he can score whenever he touches the ball. As a goalkeeper, it's a different feeling. If Andrej or any striker has five shots at goal and one goes in, everything is fine. If I save one shot out of five which are on target, that's not so good. It's always the case though that confidence grows from good performances. Mistakes can happen though. You just have to move on as, if you're thinking about the past, you're not focused on the present."
