TSG lose with 10 men in Leipzig
Team and tactics
TSG made two changes ahead of the game in Leipzig. Fit again Pavel Kaderabek replaced Philipp Ochs and Mark Uth remained on the bench after problems in the week meaning Andrej Kramaric started. The others who made the starting eleven were: Oliver Baumann in goal, with Kevin Vogt, Niklas Süle, Benjamin Hübner in the back three. Sebastian Rudy, Kerem Demirbay and Nadiem Amiri held central midfield while Steven Zuber and Kaderabek were out on the wing. Sandro Wagner partnered Kramaric up front.
Vogt had to be taken off as a precaution after half an hour following a clash with Baumann. Fabian Schär fitted into the back three as a replacement. Hoffenheim played the last third of the game with 10 men after Wagner saw red for a challenge on Ilsanker. Nagelsmann made a change immediately after, bringing on Uth for Kramaric. Amiri make way for Adam Szalai in the final change with 15 minutes left to go.
Highlight of the match:
The lead- a counter attack of the highest quality after five passes. Rudy runs from his own half and feeds Demirbay who in turns finds Amiri. After moving the ball on to Kramaric on the left, Amiri continues his run into the Leipzig penalty box and receives the return pass from Kramaric to finish off the move; the perfect counter attack. 1-0.
Number of the match: 60
The 60th minute, a foul in midfield as Wagner catches Ilksanker with a high foot. Referee Wolfgang Stark shows the red card and Hoffenheim are down to 10 men. From that moment Leipzig take control of the game and assert pressure. And then it happens; the hosts turn the game on its head and Hoffenheim leave Leipzig after suffering their first defeat of the season.
