Mergim Berisha to join FC Augsburg on loan

We clearly communicated his current role in our squad and transparently stated to him why it will be difficult for him to get playing time with us going forward," said Andreas Schicker, TSG's Managing Director for Sport, who went on to add: "For this reason, we jointly came to the conclusion that a loan would be in the best interest of all parties."

Mergim Berisha moved to TSG Hoffenheim from FC Augsburg in August 2023 and sustained a cruciate ligament tear shortly after his arrival in the Kraichgau. Due to this serious injury, he was not able to make any further competitive appearances in the 2023/24 season. The striker made his return to action for TSG this season in the first round of the DFB-Pokal away to Würzburger Kickers in August 2024. In total, Berisha has made 24 competitive appearances for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the Europa League (one goal and one assist).

The 26-year-old attacker made two international appearances for the Germany national team in 2023, having previously played 13 games for the German Football Association's U21 team (DFB, one goal).
