TSG Hoffenheim extend talented youngster David Mokwa's contract

Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim have prematurely extended talented youngster David Mokwa's contract, which was set to expire in the summer. The 20-year-old attacking player has penned a new long-term contract in the Kraichgau.

"David is a highly talented player who has developed outstandingly in our academy over the past few years and has already demonstrated his capabilities for the first team, including by scoring a goal in the Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur," said Andreas Schicker, TSG's Managing Director for Sport, who continued: "Thanks to his abilities and, above all, his highly professional attitude, we believe he has the potential to play a good role for us at Hoffenheim. For this reason, we are delighted that we have been able to extend David's contract and will continue to accompany and support him in the next steps of his development."

David Mokwa moved to the TSG Hoffenheim academy from French club Sochaux in July 2022 and initially lined up for the TSG U19s in the Bundesliga (8 matches / 7 goals) and for the U23s in the Regionalliga Süd (48 games / 17 goals). In the current campaign, Mokwa has been increasingly integrated into the TSG first-team training sessions and made his Bundesliga debut on Matchday 18 in Hoffenheim's 3-1 away win at Holstein Kiel, coming on as a substitute in the closing stages. Mokwa celebrated his first professional goal just a few days later on his Europa League debut. After coming off the bench, the French striker scored in front of his own fans against English giants Tottenham Hotspur to reduce the final margin of defeat to 3-2 on Matchday 7 of the league phase.

Mokwa has also played twice for the France U18s and three times for the U19 national team (1 goal) since 2022.
