Wagner: "A good feeling from the start at TSG"
Welcome to Hoffenheim. Why did you opt for TSG?
Sandro Wagner: I am really pleased to be here. I have heard many good things about the club, the training ground and the stadium, and I have always wanted to play here. My decision was also obviously influenced by the great conversations I had with head coach Julian Nagelsmann and Alexander Rosen. I have had a great feeling here from the start, it was my absolute dream to move here.
What are your expectations and targets?
Wagner: Firstly, I just want to arrive, get to know everybody, and settle in. Then we will definitely think of some joint targets. I want to be of service to the team and will give everything to bring the team some success. I am looking forward to my time at TSG.
What do you consider to be your strengths?
Wagner: It is always difficult to say yourself what you are particularly good at. But the manager knows very well what he considers to be my strengths. I want to show on the pitch, where my strengths lie, and help the team to win a lot of points.
You also had offers from England. Why did you want to stay in the Bundesliga?
Wagner: There were many reasons for me to stay in the Bundesliga. I have indeed said that England might be an option for me, but that was never set in stone. As a German, if you have the opportunity to play in the Bundesliga, you should definitely not go to the Premier League. We have a great league and great stadiums. I am hugely pleased that it has worked out with Hoffenheim. It is a brilliant thing for me.
Mannheim, Heidelberg, Heilbronn – have you found a new place to live yet?
Wagner: No, I still haven’t got round to house-hunting. I will do that in a couple of days when everything is a bit quieter, and I think I will find something nice here.
