Vestergaard signs for Werder Bremen
"Jannik has made important steps in his footballing development with us and has made the step up from youth level to international level,” said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen. But recently, Vestergaard, who has only made six appearances so far this season, has “no longer been happy” with his role at the club.
"It's not easy to leave. I have a lot to thank TSG for and for allowing me to spend exciting years here,” said Vestergaard, who has won two caps for Denmark. The 6'6'' defender has played in 71 Bundesliga games for Hoffenheim, scoring four goals. He also made appearances in nine DFB Cup games (1 goal). The Copenhagen-born player played 21 times for the club's reserves in the Regionalliga (4 goals) and five times for the Under-19s (1 goal).
