Mainz match reaction
Markus Gisdol: Given the good form that Mainz are in at the moment, it's not easy to play here. The opponents pretty much had the same plan as us. Both teams waited for their chance to counter and more or less cancelled each other out. Opportunities to score were rare. On the plus side, we kept a clean sheet and we can certainly live with a point. Our counters were sometimes a bit imprecise, but I have to pay a massive compliment to my players for their defensive work today.
Kasper Hjulmand: It was a very tactical match. Both teams defended really well so there weren't many opportunities to score. Sometimes good chances arose from counterattacks. Our plan was to open up Hoffenheim as well as we could, but that was difficult to do because Hoffenheim were very solid at the back.
Adam Szalai: I was happy that I got the opportunity to play. It was a really tough match with lots of challenges and few goalscoring opportunities. We'll carry on along this path that we're on and will try to get three points against Schalke.
Kevin Volland: It's nice that we're still unbeaten. We want to kick on against Schalke but first we will catch our breath after a tough week. It was a real battle today with both teams compact at the back, so there weren't many goalscoring opportunities. I think that the draw is the right result. We wanted to make our mark a little more in attack than we did, but we weren't able to do so. We put everything into it.
Oliver Baumann: The match against Freiburg was no doubt more interesting for the spectators. We weren't too great going forward tonight, but we were solid and compact at the back. Mainz are a good pressing team so that made it difficult. It was a match between two good sides. We've taken a point home with us, so we can't be too downbeat, but we lacked conviction with our finishing today.
Jonas Hofmann: I think that both sides can live with the point. Hoffenheim had some chances to score but we had opportunities to win the game. All in all, it was a fair draw.
