Wiese called into Euro 2012 squad

Goalkeeper Tim Wiese, due to join TSG 1899 Hoffenheim from Werder Bremen at the start of the new season, has made Germany coach Joachim Löw's final 23-man squad for the upcoming UEFA European Championships in Poland and Ukraine. Along with Ron-Robert Zieler of Hannover 96, Wiese will provide back-up to no. 1 Manuel Neuer of FC Bayern Munich.

Löw had originally named 27 players in his preliminary squad. The players to miss out were goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Sven Bender of Borussia Dortmund, Julian Draxler of Schalke 04 and VfB Stuttgart's Cacau. The team's first game is against Portugal on June 9th.
