Babbel: “We want to continue along this path”
The win against Hannover has created new motivation and fight to win points against Stuttgart. “I've recognised that the lads are ready. The win has done us a lot of good but we must carry on. We have a very difficult game to play and we must show the same virtues that we did in the previous game. We want to continue along this path”, said manager Markus Babbel.
Stuttgart's start to the season has also been less than pleasing and after only two points from four games they are well and truly under pressure. After their comeback in Bremen though, they have rediscovered their self-confidence and Babbel knows they will be a force to be reckoned with: “We have a difficult opponent in front of us and although it won't be easy, I'm looking forward to the game.” Sporting director Andreas Müller warns about having too much euphoria though: “In the last game, we took the first, small step towards changing the negative trend but if we all pull together, then I'm confident.”
‘Schippo' is fit again
In Stuttgart, manager Markus Babbel will be without Tim Wiese and Chris, both of whom have recovered from their muscle tears but are not match fit. Sven Schipplock trained with the first team on Monday after recovering from a bruised heel and is available for selection. Koen Casteels looks set to make his away debut in goal. Labbadia doesn't have a whole squad to choose from. The absence of Martin Harnik is a huge loss for Stuttgart. The Austrian international is suspended after seeing a red card late against Bremen, while Tunay Torun is out with a knee injury. Vedad Ibisevic returns for the hosts after his suspension to face his old club.
Dates and facts
The head-to-head could be improved from TSG's perspective. Stuttgart won the last encounter in Sinsheim thanks to two goals from Ibisevic. After two draws and two defeats, Hoffenheim are still waiting for their first win in Stuttgart.
