Jan Schindelmeiser to leave 1899 Hoffenheim
"I've had a fantastic time in Hoffenheim and I'm very proud of what we've built here over the last few years. The signs that 1899 Hoffenheim are going to develop into a real force in the Bundesliga are very positive indeed. I informed Dietmar Hopp of my decision to leave the club weeks ago. It wasn't an easy decision, because I am very happy here, but I think it's time for a change after a number of successful years here," said Schindelmeiser.
Schindelmeiser joined the club ahead of the 2006/07 season and along with coach Ralf Rangnick formed a side which gained successive promotions into the top tier and established itself as a Bundesliga club.
"We're losing a true expert in Jan Schindelmeiser - one of the architechts of the Hoffenheim model for success. Along with Ralf Rangnick he has done a great job and contributed heavily to the club rising from the Regionalliga to the Bundesliga. I regret Mr Schindelmeiser's decision to leave, but I understand his wishes to do something new," said club owner Dietmar Hopp.
