Tabaković: "A fair result"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 1-1 (1-0) draw with 1. FC Heidenheim.

Oliver Baumann: "I think the result is fair, it could have ended 2-2. We still had chances at the end. But Heidenheim were better for 15 minutes in the second half and could even have taken the lead. We had everything under control in the first half, but they were extremely good after the break and we struggled with that. It took us a while to adjust. We got through that phase, but we needed to score a second goal in the first half. All in all, the draw was good. We get a point on our account, even though we wanted three. The games against our direct opponents are hugely important, it's possible to take big steps. It's far from over yet. If you think like that, you will pay the price."

Haris Tabaković: "We didn't seal the deal in the first half, we had our chances. Based on the second half, it's a fair result, Heidenheim had chances there too. We would have liked to win, but it was important that we didn't lose. It's a positive trend that we haven't lost four games in a row. When I scored, I just wanted to head the ball on but I realised that I got a lot of pace on it. We'll take the goal. I was supposed to hold the ball up and score goals, and I think that worked out well. The routines were very good in the first half. Heidenheim then caused us a few problems in the second half."

Leo Østigård: "We could have decided the game in the first half and had more chances. We also had good chances towards the end, but we weren't good enough to score any more goals today. The goal we conceded was unfortunate, of course, but it was a good goal. That's football. We wanted to win the game, but it was important not to lose. Now we have to put the game behind us and prepare for St Pauli."

Finn Becker: "It's two points dropped for me. We were much better in the first half, we should have made it 2-0 or 3-0 and put the game to bed. After the break, they made some changes and added a second man down their right flank. We couldn't cope with that at all, we couldn't get out at all. That's not what we expect from a home game. It only got better towards the end, when we had our chances. In the end, it's bitter that we didn't win. One more point in the relegation battle, but still not enough for us. I'm now really looking forward to the game with St Pauli at the Millerntor, which is of course home for me after 12 years spent there. We'll give it everything we've got and want to get the three points there."

Christian Ilzer: "The draw hurts today. We let two points slip, even if the game was good in terms of performance. It was a battle of attrition in the first half. We didn't give away much and even had a chance to make it 2-0. We had real problems before they levelled, but in the end we had the chance to win. We were a bit too much in game management mode, instead I'd have liked us to go for 2-0 with more vigour. Heidenheim believed in themselves after the equaliser and that caused us problems. In the end, the result is okay."

Frank Schmidt (1. FC Heidenheim coach): "For me it was a game of two halves. I thought it was an even game in the first half, but we made a mistake and found ourselves trailing. We showed a great reaction in the second half, had lots of chances and should have scored more goals. We have to show something like that over two halves if we want to win games in the Bundesliga. We had more chances after the break and we had everything under control. I had the feeling that we could do it today and win. We can be satisfied with the point and the performance."
