Østigård: "A 1-0 win is a good result"

Here's what the TSG Hoffenheim players and coaches said on their win at VfL Bochum.

Leo Østigård: "It was not an easy game against a team that plays a lot of long balls. That makes it difficult because you don't know exactly how to approach it. The opposition fans were also very present. It wasn't a beautiful game, but we have to show the same fighting spirit that we brought onto the pitch. The fact that we didn't concede a goal was very good. A 1-0 win is a good result."

Tom Bischof: "It was a really good game from all of us right from the outset. The tackling in Bochum is always really tough. But we fought our way into it well. Fortunately, I then scored the goal. I thought I would have a go. Then a little mole provided a helping hand, but the shot was of course savable. The last few games have been very mature. A win without conceding does us an incredible lot of good, but the three points were the most important thing. We can now take a short breather but next week we have to keep at it. Our goal is to move away from the bottom in the next few games."

Oliver Baumann: "I'm happy and relieved. We followed the match plan. We were lucky in some situations, but so were Bochum. We managed to embrace the fight in Bochum; that laid the foundations for our victory today. The way we defended is the basis for success. I'm very happy that I was able to return to action today. I invested a lot to make this happen and I have to thank my wife; I was hardly at home for the first 10 days because I was constantly working towards my recovery."

Christian Ilzer: "These are big points for us. We embraced the fight. The game ultimately went through different phases; sometimes we were slightly superior, then Bochum had stronger moments. In the end, the decisive factor was that we defended with great focus. We showed the spirit that was needed here. We have to continue in this vein and carry our confidence over into the next important games."

Dieter Hecking (VfL Bochum coach): "It was an intense match against a good opponent. We had good control of the game at times, especially after the break. The goal we conceded was unfortunate for Timo (Horn). That was frustrating, but we then didn't manage to apply any more pressure. We were then no longer so good in the spaces. In the end, we lost the game and a draw would probably have been a fairer result. But you always have to accept setbacks like this in a relegation battle. If I had been told that we would be in 16th place on Matchday 24, I would have taken it straightaway."
