Moerstedt scores for Germany U19s

The Bundesliga is on a break, but eight TSG first-team players are on duty with their national teams. Max Moerstedt has started off the window in top form.

The Germany U19s were barely four minutes into their EURO qualifying match against Slovenia when Max Moerstedt celebrated for the first time: Noah Darvich slotted home following a cross to make it 1-0 to Germany. And Moerstedt added his name to the scoresheet shortly afterwards: the TSG forward completed the scoring in a 2-0 win in the 15th minute. The win means coach Hanno Balitsch's team have got off to the perfect start to the second phase of EURO qualifying. Moerstedt & Co. will host Finland's U19s on Saturday, before visiting the Ireland U19s on Tuesday.

A highlight awaits Oliver Baumann on Thursday. The TSG goalkeeper will be Germany's No. 1 shot-stopper in the match against Italy. The 34-year-old will be between the sticks in both the first and second legs of the quarter-final.

Andrej Kramarić will also be in Nations League quarter-final action with Croatia, who will face France in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup final. Lúkas Petersson will play for Iceland against Kosovo, while David Jurásek will represent Czechia against the Faroe Islands on Thursday.
