Baumann and the DFB team reach the semi-finals

The Bundesliga is on a break, but eight TSG first-team players are on duty with their national teams. Oliver Baumann celebrated reaching the semi-finals on Sunday, while Andrej Kramarić and Croatia were eliminated.

The international window went well for Oliver Baumann. The TSG captain helped the Germany national team qualify for the UEFA Nations League semi-finals thanks to a 3-3 (3-0) draw with Italy, after a 2-1 victory in Milan in the reverse fixture. The DFB team produced an outstanding performance in the first period, but the Italians showed great spirit and fought their way back into the match. The first-leg victory, in which Baumann had made a critical contribution with some strong saves, means that Germany are now in the semi-finals and in with a chance of winning the competition for the first time.

Meanwhile, the Croatia team beat France 2-0 in the first leg, only for the "Equipe Tricolore" to equal the aggregate score in the return match and force extra-time. TSG's record goalscorer Andrej Kramarić watched that from the bench, having been substituted in the 71st minute. The Croats lost to France in a penalty shootout and missed out on a place in the last four.

Earlier, on Saturday, 19-year-old Max Moerstedt celebrated qualifying for the European Championships with the DFB U19s.
