Tradition meets future – the TSG New Year's reception
Small talk with the players in the dressing room, a view of the hallowed turf from the sidelines and special shirts and memorabilia from 125 years of club history: TSG Hoffenheim's New Year's reception once again made for an exclusive atmosphere at the PreZero Arena in their anniversary season.
"I am delighted that so many friends of TSG Hoffenheim are here. It is still extraordinary that there is an established Bundesliga club in our region, on our doorstep," said Jörg Albrecht, the First Chairman of TSG Hoffenheim e.V., in his welcome address to the approximately 600 guests, before calling on everyone in attendance to get through difficult times together: "It is important that we all stick together. Especially now. I am sure that we will be more successful again."
The 80-minute stage programme that followed was hosted by long-time stadium announcer Mike Diehl, who created a great atmosphere with his performance with the "Turnmäusen" – TSG Hoffenheim's youngest gymnastics group – to the song "Unsere Liebe".
This was followed by various rounds of talks with the management team consisting of Dr. Markus Schütz, Frank Briel, Tim Jost and Andreas Schicker, former academy players Max Moerstedt and Umut Tohumcu, head coach Christian Ilzer, and women's football player Melissa Kössler and coach Theodoros Dedes.
"Over the last years, I have had the privilege of seeing TSG Hoffenheim develop from an ambitious club into an established Bundesliga outfit. Every individual at TSG and all our partners and friends can be proud of this. At the same time, the football business is evolving rapidly, which is why we want to ensure that TSG can continue to set its own standards in the future," said Dr. Markus Schütz, CEO, who went on to add: "We want to play brave and passionate football with heart. Every person who identifies with the club should be proud of TSG and remain so. We want to continue on this path together." The continuation of this joint path will be ensured by the likes of sporting director Andreas Schicker, who said the following of the recent upturn: "The past three games have been very positive. We're on the right track and if we all work together, we'll manage to stay in the league. There are a lot of really good possibilities at TSG and we want to build on that."
Between the rounds of discussions, performances by a sand painter, a football freestyler and a magician generated amazement and enthusiasm. Both before and after the official stage programme, partners, sponsors and friends had time to chat with TSG officials and players. An atmospheric get-together among friends – the 2025 anniversary New Year's reception was an unforgettable evening for TSG Hoffenheim's partners and sponsors.
