Hložek: "We fought for each other"

Here's what the players, coaches and officials had to say after the 3-1 win (2-0) away to Holstein Kiel.

Adam Hložek: "We knew it would be a very difficult game. Kiel showed the qualities they have against Borussia Dortmund. We played very well today. We fought for each other. We earned the win together today. The win is incredibly important. The game was a direct clash. It was very important that we spoke before the game about why we've been playing so badly. I'm very happy that we won today. I hope that we can build on today's victory. I'm obviously delighted that I was able to help the team with my goals."

Oliver Baumann: "Today was exactly the right way to go about things. We had good energy, a lot of passion and were there for each other. We were a cohesive unit. Today was the first step in the right direction, which is very important. We often had the ball in the opposition's half and, apart from one situation, we defended well. There was a lot of pressure hanging over the game, but we turned that into energy. We had a lot of conversations. Today we brought to the pitch things we had discussed. The direction is clear and so is the significance of today's win. I'm relieved, this must give us confidence and courage."

Christian Ilzer: "It was a very important win for all of us. Of course, I'm particularly pleased for the team, who have been rewarded after a long barren patch. We took the game in our stride from the very first second. The win was a good step in the right direction. It was important for us that we turned things around this week and showed what's possible when we do things together on the pitch. Those were necessary factors. We had long discussions together to find solutions to improve things."

Sporting Director Andreas Schicker: "It was a very good reaction from the team. We talked a lot throughout the week. You could tell from the very first second what the lads were up for it. Andrej Kramarić gave a very emotional interview. That triggered something, but we talked about it. For me, it was important that we were united as a team. That was very good. I hope that we continue to deliver good results. That hasn't been the case in recent weeks. We'll continue to work on that; today was the first step."

Marcel Rapp (Holstein Kiel coach): "I saw a very poor game of football. We got off to a bad start in both halves. Oliver Baumann makes a very good save at 0-0 and we concede the opening goal after a deflection. We wanted to do a lot better in the second half, but then concede the third goal after a poor start. That kind of performance makes it difficult to win a Bundesliga game."
