VBL double matchday: "whiteezz05" secures important point
The TSG team had their sights set on their fourth win of the season on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, they only managed to pick up one point in the VBL CC in the end. The team lost the rescheduled match-up against 1. FSV Mainz 05, followed by a draw in the virtual clash with SC Freiburg on Matchday 7. TSG eSPORTS are now in tenth place in the South-East Division with ten points from seven matches. However, they are currently just two points behind eighth place, which would qualify them for the next round.
The match against Mainz had been postponed the previous week due to illness, and the rescheduled fixture on Wednesday began with plenty of action. After trailing twice early on - 1-0 in the 6th minute and 2-1 in the 11th - Aymane ‘AYMANE’ Mokallik and Fabrice ‘whiteezz05’ Weiss fought their way back in the doubles, and a hat-trick of goals within eleven minutes (16, 21, 27) finally turned the game in our favour. In the end, the TSG duo celebrated a 6-4 win against Ditmir ‘Ditmir_4897’ Alimi and Joe ‘JH7’ Hellmann. The start to the double matchday was a success. But the tide turned in FSV's favour in the singles. Luan ‘Lubappe6’ Waldleitner, who had made a brilliant VBL-CC debut against ‘RBLZ_Vejrgang’ on the previous matchday, was defeated 6-0 by ‘JH7’; ‘whiteezz05’ then lost 2-0 to ‘Ditmir_4897’ Alimi.
"whiteezz05" holds his nerve
Our team's focus was now all the more on the subsequent match against Freiburg. Once again, our doubles had to deal with an early setback: after a quick attack and dribble down the right wing, ‘AYMANE’/‘whiteezz05’ fell behind in the second minute, but remained unfazed. In the end, they battled to a 2-2 draw against David ‘SCF_Dave’ Queck and Gianluca ‘SCF_Gianluca’ Mautone. Things then looked much better in the singles: ‘AYMANE’ led 2-0 against ‘SCF_Gianluca’ (18, 38) and scored at the beginning of the closing stages to make it 3-2 (73), but in the end, a double strike by the Freiburg player (74, 78) resulted in a hard-to-swallow 4-3 defeat. This left our team hoping for a draw at best, which was finally secured by ‘whiteezz05’. He was already 3-0 ahead against ‘SCF_Dave’, but after his opponent pulled back two goals (60, 72) it got tense again. But ‘whiteezz05’ kept his nerve and secured the point with a 3-2 win.
