Baumann: "We were the better team"
Andrej Kramarić: "We were the much better team for the full 90 minutes. But the most important thing in the end is to win the matches. We need the points. I'm angry and not satisfied. We now need to take time to regenerate and analyse. We're scoring too few goals, we also had many chances to score again today but we did not make good use of them. The current points haul is simply not enough."
Oliver Baumann: "This defeat really hurts. We were the better team but they were more efficient than us. The second conceded goal was extremely bitter in terms of timing as you then have to chase the game again after equalising. We then did well, built up pressure and really pinned them back but the ball didn't want to go in again. We're in a position in the table that leaves us feeling completely dissatisfied. We need to keep going and embrace the challenge but it's a process that takes time."
Anton Stach: "We only have ourselves to blame for this defeat as we didn't score the goals. That was the decisive factor, even if we should've defended the goals we conceded better. We've found ourselves as a team and internalised the philosophy; we just have to convert that into points. We had a lot of good chances that we did well to create. But we then have to capitalise on them. I now have to process this defeat, switch off over the holidays and recharge my batteries. Then we can go on the attack again."
Christian Ilzer: "Efficiency is a great virtue in football. You could see that our opponents are in a flow. Our performance was absolutely fine. We got a better grip on the game in the second half and scored the goal for 1-1 during a spell of pressure but didn't manage to capitalise on that momentum. We're often having to chase the game at the moment. The performance and the result do not match today."
Andreas Schicker (TSG managing director): "Everyone saw today we were clearly the better team. We spurned a range of chances and then conceded the goals far too easily. We played a great game between the two penalty areas but everyone knows games are decided in the box. And in that regard we were not precise going forward and not decisive enough at the back. Nonetheless, we can be satisfied with the performance itself, especially in the second half; the lads cannot be reproached for that. Overall, we haven't picked up enough points, which means we're fighting relegation. Everyone has to get into the right frame of mind. But the style of football is clearly recognisable; it's definitely moving in the right direction and I'm positive about the development. Everyone knew the process would take time."
Gerardo Seoane (Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach): "We definitely weren't the better team throughout the entire match, but were perhaps the more fortunate one. We executed a lot of counter-attacks well; with a bit more efficiency we could've made more out of them, especially in the first half an hour. After that, we became too passive and the opponent turned the heat up. We didn't find the right approach and gave away far too many situations. We had the match-winner in goal – fundamentally, that's not what you want as a coach."
