Baumann: "We need to transfer that to the league"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say following their 2-0 victory against Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League.

Oliver Baumann: "It's a good feeling to have had a game like that. We were very solid, it was definitely a step in the right direction. It's nice how the fans are really behind us. It's also been quite a while since we've kept a clean sheet. It's good for us to perform well on the international stage. Now we need to transfer that to the league. There are definitely a few things that we can take away from this game. I don't know whether I'll be in goal for the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina yet, but it's just very nice to hear that I'll get to play for the national team."

Anton Stach: "We're very happy that we won today and that we kept a clean sheet. We worked hard for our place in the Europa League last season. It's a dream come true. For me, today was also my debut in an international competition. You could really see that these games are something special, and that everyone gave everything they had today."

Adam Hložek: "It was a very important victory for us and for the fans. I'm very happy that we won today. We need to keep up that momentum on Sunday, so that we can perform well in the Bundesliga too. I hope that I'll keep scoring lots of goals. The fans supported us really well, which is important for us as players. We need to keep it up together."

Alexander Prass: "We stand together as a team, you could see that on the pitch, and that's why we deserved to win. It's just really good for us. It's nice to celebrate with the fans. It's a really good feeling for our defence to finally have kept a clean sheet. We hardly let anything get past us defensively, and that makes us feel confident going into our next games."

Pellegrino Matarazzo: "We wanted to go into the game with a high press, because we knew that Kyiv don't experience that as often in the league. We wanted to use that to catch them off guard so that we could dominate. That was the plan, and it worked out well. In the first 30 minutes we were very dominant and should have scored our second goal then. But you could see that they are difficult to defend against when in possession in the opposition's half. The bottom line is though, it was a well-deserved win. The team acted decisively and played a good game. That makes me proud. I said before the game that there's a lot to be gained today. We're gaining in self confidence and energy. It's a validation of the work that we're putting in. Finally keeping a clean sheet again is just a damn good feeling."

Oleksandr Schowkowskyj (Dynamo Kyiv coach): "I need a bit more time to analyse the game properly. We didn't score any goals, and we conceded two. Hoffenheim are a very strong team, we're happy that we're able to play in the Europa League and gain valuable experience. Right now in our country, it's not just about football. We're fighting for survival. As a club, we can hardly improve because we can't take on any players from other countries. There are also lots of logistical problems. Our preparation for matches is always difficult."
