No points in Berlin: TSG lose away to Union
Personnel matters
Head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo made two changes compared to the 4-1 defeat against Bayer 04 Leverkusen: Tom Bischof and Robin Hranáč replaced Dennis Geiger (muscular problems) and Florian Grillitsch (flu-like infection) in the starting XI.
The scenario
With three points from their first three matches, TSG were in 14th position in the table. Ninth-placed Union Berlin went into Matchday 4 with two more points on the board.
Moment of the match
The goal for 1-0: TSG got off to the worst-possible start to the match and fell behind after only four minutes and through Union's first shot at goal. The second goal only 120 seconds later ultimately put Union on the path to victory.
Number of the game: 93
Oliver Baumann made his 93rd Bundesliga appearance in succession. This is the longest run in the league. He last missed a Bundesliga match in November 2021.
Outlook
TSG Hoffenheim will already be in action again on Wednesday. The team will be up against Danish champions Midtylland in their first UEFA Europa League game. Kick-off in Herning is at 21:00 CEST. TSG's next Bundesliga opponents will be SV Werder Bremen on the big anniversary matchday next Sunday (17:30 CEST).

Match highlights
Union take the lead early
Union Berlin go ahead following a corner-kick routine. Akpoguma's attempted clearance is blocked and the situation remains dangerous as a result. Tom Rothe then reacts quickly and fires home on the volley.
Double blow
Hollerbach attacks from the left and Baumann manages to save his deflected shot. The ball falls to Jeong, who gets the better of Prass and then fires home from close range. A very bad start by our TSG.
Drexler tests Rönnow
Drexler is fed by Kramaric and pulls the trigger from around 25 metres. Rönnow dives at full stretch and manages to get a hand to the ball.
Bülter cuts deficit
Bülter nutmegs Haberer and then fires unstoppably past Rönnow and inside the near post.
