Luan 'Lubappe6' Waldleitner is promoted to the VBL squad

From the TSG eAcademy to our Virtual Bundesliga squad: Luan Waldleitner is taking the next step of his fledgling career with TSG eSPORTS and will wear the TSG shirt in the VBL Club Championship moving forward.

By founding the TSG eAcademy last year, TSG eSPORTS decisively set the course for the future in eFootball. For it is not only on real grass that the topic of promoting young talents enjoys high priority at TSG Hoffenheim, who also want to train the stars of tomorrow on the virtual pitch. In Luan 'Lubappe6' Waldleitner, a player from the TSG eAcademy has now made the leap to the VBL squad for the first time. The 18-year-old will play for TSG eSPORTS in the VBL Club Championship next season, among other competitions, and will use this experience to take the next step in his development.

"Since I've been active in eFootball, it's been a dream of mine to be able to play in the VBL one day," said 'Lubappe6', who continued: "I've fought for a very long time to achieve this objective. I'm really looking forward to the season, also because I have a very good relationship with my team-mates. If I get the opportunity, I will of course do my best to represent the club as best as I possibly can."

'Lubappe6' played himself into the spotlight in 2023 by finishing third in the final of the TSG eChampion, having previously already gained experience for FC Ingolstadt 04 in the DFB ePokal. Last season, 'Lubappe6' again played himself into the spotlight by qualifying for the play-offs of the VBL Open, where he beat Richard 'Gaucho' Hormes of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Tim 'TheStrxnger' Katnawatos of 1. FC Köln, among others, and ultimately only narrowly missed out on reaching the Grand Final.

"We are very proud that Luan will be part of our VBL squad in the future and I am convinced that with his passion and his ability, he will be an asset to our team," said TSG eSPORTS team manager Gordon Lesser, adding: "Luan's development is a significant milestone, both for him personally and for the TSG eAcademy. He is certainly among the players who competed in the most tournaments at national level in Germany last season. This practice and, above all, his ambition will help him all the more as he makes the leap to the highest level of German competition. His rise from eAcademy player to VBL squad member is proof that our vision is working. I am sure that Luan and other players from the eAcademy will bring us a lot of joy in the future."
