Kramer: "We have to stay focused"

On Tuesday, Frank Kramer temporarily took over the sporting management of TSG Hoffenheim. The 52-year-old travelled to the training camp in Kitzbühel and spoke in an interview about his impressions of the team, the friendly match against Norwich City and possible transfers.

Frank, you have been on site at the TSG training camp in Kitzbühel since Tuesday. What have the past 48 hours been like for you?

"I have had a lot of conversations here, trying to get an overview of the group and a feel for the situation. I've had extensive discussions with the coaching staff and the players. We will now try to go in the same direction together. Of course, recent events have caused a certain amount of unrest and uncertainty. That's why I came to Kitzbühel to serve as a point of contact on site and to take care of it."

What impressions did you gain in the conversations? What did you make of the team?

"It's about football. The team and the coaching staff are very focused. The training sessions and friendlies are meticulously prepared and seen through. The team are totally professional. We have to stay focused and look forward. That is the most important thing. Everything else, we will work out together."

Tuesday was the first friendly match against Norwich City. How did you find the 2-2 draw?

We did really well in the first half. We looked very stable, and were in an excellent position. Because we made so many changes, the flow of the game suffered a bit, meaning that not all of the build-up play was really in sync. Of course, a team like Norwich, who were battling to win promotion to the Premier League last season, will take advantage of that. Then we saw that there is still a lot of work ahead of us."

What are the next steps now, especially with regard to squad planning?

"The squad is not yet ready – everyone knows that. We now want to tackle this together with determination and push things forward. By the time the first competitive game comes around, the team should be looking how it should do throughout the entire season. It is a special season that we are looking forward to. We're playing in the Europa League. That is why it is important be focused and to complete the squad piece by piece. The fans should enjoy coming to the stadium."
