Friendly defeat against Ipswich
TSG have finished off their training camp with a defeat: Hoffenheim's friendly fixture against Ipswich Town ended with a 1-0 (1-0) scoreline. Jack Taylor ensured victory for the Premier League promoted club with a goal in the 43rd minute.
The pitch at the stadium in Kufstein proved to be a very difficult surface to play on due to the strong rainfall prior to kick-off. The ball kept getting stuck in puddles and the players kept slipping over. That meant the game had little flow to it, with the first chance coming after 12 minutes: Conor Chaplin headed narrowly wide of the mark after a free-kick for Ipswich Town.
The Premier League promoted outfit also had the second opportunity. Following a misplaced pass from Oliver Baumann, Leif Davis fired wide of an empty net (27). Shortly after the break, Ipswich Town got their reward and took the lead following a short corner. Jack Taylor fired home from close range (43).
TSG showed a different side to themselves directly after the restart and had a chance via Ihlas Bebou following a corner, but the striker could not get the ball into the back of the net from close range (47). Ipswich Town also posed a threat, but Taylor and Wes Burns were both denied by the post from a centre-left position.
TSG subsequently had significantly more of the match but rarely had shooting chances. The best opportunities were spurned by Muhammed Damar, who was denied by the goalkeeper from close range (82) and from a free-kick (83). Hoffenheim pushed for the equaliser in the period that followed but could not put the ball in the net, meaning it stayed 1-0.
After the final whistle, TSG Hoffenheim made the journey home from their training camp. The next training session in Zuzenhausen is scheduled for 11:00 CEST on Tuesday.
