Loan extended, Jurásek to remain at TSG for another year

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have signed David Jurásek on loan for an additional year from storied Portuguese club Benfica. The original loan of the 23-year-old Czech international and European Championship participant expired on June 30, 2024. The left-back still has a contract with Benfica until June 30, 2028.

"David came to Hoffenheim after a difficult period for him at Benfica and, after a few weeks of settling in, has shown that he can be an important factor in our play. David is a dynamic and offensively strong full-back who also knows how to defend reliably. His outstanding performances in high-profile matches, such as our away game in Leverkusen, are wonderful examples of this and make us very optimistic going into next season," said Alexander Rosen, managing director at TSG.

"We now want to continue working with David to ensure that he regularly reaches his top level and we definitely believe he can achieve this with us," added Pirmin Schwegler, head of professional football at Hoffenheim. "For this reason, we are delighted that we have been able to extend David's loan by one year and thus fill an important vacancy on the left flank."

David Jurásek joined TSG Hoffenheim on loan from Benfica in January 2024 and made 13 Bundesliga appearances (one assist) for the Kraichgau club in the second half of last season. Jurásek moved from Slavia Prague to the historic Portuguese club in Lisbon in the summer of 2023. In his first six months there, he played six league games, three Champions League games and one match each in the Super Cup, the Portuguese Cup and the League Cup.

The Czech international and European Championship participant has made 14 appearances for the senior national team of his home country, appearing in ten matches (one assist). At the European Championships in Germany, Jurásek was part of the starting line-up in both of the Czechs' last two group matches and consistently impressed with his performances.
