KICKFAIR at the PreZero Arena: United for Democracy and Fair Play
It's not just about the sport, it's also about social learning and educating people about democracy. Under this banner, KICKFAIR is organising various football events for young people during the UEFA EURO 2024. On Tuesday the tour visited the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim. The event was organised by KICKFAIR in cooperation with TSG Hoffenheim.
The idea is that through football, young people can positively experience and form values relating to fair and sensitive social interaction. Alongside KICKFAIR, young people who have been active for some time as street football organisers play a key role in the initiative. The KICKFAIR game style is based on three halves, during which the young people taking part learn about democratic principles: the rules of the game are discussed and agreed on beforehand, and are assessed after the game based on their suitability and how they were put into practice. Having the confidence to express an opinion while also respecting the opinions of others is part of the learning process.
TSG managing director Denni Strich and the mayor of Sinsheim, Jörg Albrecht, were also present at the event. "I think it's really wonderful that the children aren't just playing football, they're also learning when they're off the pitch. For us at TSG Hoffenheim, it makes us proud that the young people around here are coming together and engaging. Especially in these times, it's an important sign of democracy", said Strich.
The KICKFAIR tour is travelling through different regions during the EURO 2024, and will visit 24 cities over the duration of the tournament. More than 12,000 young people across Germany are part of the project.
