Jurásek injury overshadows 2-2 draw against Norwich

TSG Hoffenheim drew 2-2 (2-0) with Norwich City in a friendly match during their pre-season training camp. Ihlas Bebou (20) and Marius Bülter (25) gave TSG a lead going into the break, but the English second tier side equalised in the second half. Unfortunately, David Jurásek seriously injured his forearm in the match.

The serious injury suffered by TSG first team player David Jurásek overshadowed the friendly match, in which Hoffenheim drew 2-2 (2-0) with Norwich City. But the result faded into the background, as David Jurásek suffered a serious injury to his forearm in the twelfth minute after going up for a header and had to be replaced and taken to the hospital after an extended break as he received treatment on the pitch.

Three minutes after play resumed, TSG took the lead: Ihlas Bebou fired into the bottom corner after a well-worked attack in the 20th minute. Just five minutes later the ball was in the net again: Kevin Akpoguma floated a free-kick into the box, where substitute Marius Bülter only had to prod the ball over the line in the 25th minute. Both teams had good chances before the half was over. Luca Philipp made a good save on 39 minutes, before Bülter missed a chance to score his second goal two minutes later, so the sides headed into the dressing rooms at 2-0 at half time.

In the second half, TSG changed their team almost completely, with only Philipp, Bülter and Akpoguma staying out on the pitch. Muhammad Damar had the first chance after a corner, but his long-range shot flew very narrowly past the post in the 51st minute. After that, Hoffenheim were caught napping and conceded. After a long goal-kick, Jonathan Rowe went clean through and cooly fired past Philipp to pull one back for Norwich in the 52nd minute. In the 66th minute, Norwich scored the equaliser when Brad Hills found the net from a corner.

After that, both teams struggled to create chances, and it wasn't until the 90th minute that the English side had the chance to seal the victory, but Luca Philipp made two saves, and the post also bailed out Hoffenheim, who hung on for a final score of 2-2.

To conclude the training camp, TSG Hoffenheim will play a friendly match against Ipswich Town in Kufstein on Saturday (13:30 CEST), before heading back to the Kraichgau.
