DFB-Pokal: First round in Würzburg

The first competitive opponent of the season has been confirmed: TSG Hoffenheim will travel to Würzburger Kickers in the DFB-Pokal first round. The match will be played between 16 and 19 August. It will be precisely scheduled in the course of the coming weeks.

Würzburger Kickers are currently battling for a place in the 3. Liga in a play-off tie against the Hannover 96 reserves. The Kickers, who have former TSG youth coach Marco Wildersinn in the dugout, ended the Regionalliga Bayern season 13 points clear at the top of the table.

It will not be the first time this tie has taken place in the DFB-Pokal first round: the two teams went head-to-head in 2019, with TSG winning in a penalty shootout.
