Memorial trip to Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp

The former Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp is located in the town of Natzweiler in Alsace, approximately 60 kilometres from Strasbourg. People suffered under unimaginable conditions there. It is our duty to listen to their stories, preserve their memories and learn from the past. One of the most important satellite camps of the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp is the former satellite camp in Mosbach-Neckarelz.

Organised as part of the Sinsheim Remembrance Weeks, the trip will first take in the remnants of the main camp before heading to Neckarelz at the beginning of 2024.

The trip to Natzweiler is scheduled for Sunday 15 October. The PreZero Arena will be the meeting point at 9:45 CET, with departure to take place at 10:00 CET. The TSG Team Bus will take you to Natzweiler in the Vosges Mountains, about 200 kilometres away. Upon arrival, you will learn about the history of the camp and hear personal stories. After the visit, the travelling party will have dinner together, which will give us another opportunity for discussion. We will then return to Sinsheim. The estimated time of arrival is 23:00 CET.

The full price of participation is €20 and the discount price is €10 (school pupils, students, under 18s). The trip will be financially supported by the club.

The trip shall be organised, accompanied and supported by the TSG Hoffenheim Fan Affairs Department, the Sinsheim Old Synagogue Association (Start (synagoge-steinsfurt.org)) and supported by Fan Project Hoffenheim (IB Standort | Fanprojekt Hoffenheim (internationaler-bund.de)).

Background

The Sinsheim Remembrance Weeks in October were initiated by the Steinsfurt Old Synagogue Association and the TSG Hoffenheim Fan Affairs Department. The starting point for the newly created Remembrance Weeks was the big memorial trip to Gurs, which TSG organised alongside Centropa, the Steinsfurt Old Synagogue Association and the Hoffenheim Fan Affairs Department, among others. The purpose of the event is to commemorate the deportation of Jews from Baden to Gurs in October 1940 and to bring together remembrance, knowledge and humanity. In doing so, we are taking a stand together for remembrance and a better future.
