A tough challenge against the Dutch champions

Feyenoord stand alongside PSV Eindhoven and Ajax as the giants of Dutch football. Since the turn of the millennium, however, the club had won just a sole Eredivisie title in 2017 – until last season that is. Under the guidance of head coach Arne Slot, Feyenoord were the resounding league winners in the Netherlands, leaving all competitors far off in the distance. TSG Hoffenheim can therefore expect a tough challenge in Saturday's friendly match (13:00 CET/live-stream on YouTube).

Since Arne Slot took over as coach of the Rotterdam club in 2021, Feyenoord have enjoyed an exceptional run of success. In his first season at the club, Slot, who had previously coached smaller clubs in the Netherlands, led Feyenoord to the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League, where they lost 1-0 to AS Roma. In his second season, he led Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie championship since 2017, losing just two games in the process . In recent weeks, the 44-year-old has also been linked with top clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, but instead the title-winning coach chose to extend his contract early until 2026.

Slot has assembled an exciting squad, which, as the second youngest in the league, still has a lot of potential for development. Transfer rumours abound about its top players. Orkun Kökcu, for example, who was an important component in Feyenoord's performance last season, has already moved to Benfica for the - according to media reports - record sum of 25 million euros.

TSG's friendly match against the Dutch side will be played over four 30-minute periods. TSG sincerely regret that, due to safety reasons, no spectators will be allowed to attend. The match will however be streamed live on YouTube.
