Alexander Rosen joins the management board
For over a decade, Alexander Rosen has worked to help TSG achieve sporting success and has also been the face of the club to the outside world. One of the lessons learned from the past few months is the need to broaden the sporting ranks and represent TSG's core business in the management board via a proven expert. "Alexander Rosen is held in high regard within the club and also by the many contact persons needed to successfully manage and develop a Bundesliga club," TSG shareholder Dietmar Hopp said in praise of the new managing director.
"It's a great honour for me to be able to move up to the top echelon of the club that has been my professional home for more than a decade. I would like to thank the shareholders for the trust they have placed in me over the years," said the freshly appointed Alexander Rosen. "Looking back fills me with pride, but I am firmly convinced that there is still a lot of potential in this TSG and its committed staff members. Making full use of these possibilities, developing our small but special club on all levels and making an extraordinary mark in sporting terms time and time again – that is what drives me and allows me to move forward full of joy and great motivation," continued Rosen, who announced that he will also reorganise the sporting department which he is in charge of in the next few weeks and align it to the challenges of the years to come.
Alexander Rosen has been jointly responsible for the club's sporting development for more than a decade. The Augsburg native has been working at TSG – first as head and later as director of professional football – since 2013 and has therefore played a major role in the Kraichgau club's success story. He has overseen one participation in the UEFA Champions League and two qualifications for the Europa League. Rosen has also played a major role in the club's outstanding transfer record. Over the past decade, TSG has generated a positive balance in the triple-digit millions and tops the league ranking in this category.
"The sporting successes of our club, combined with the economic component, are further proof of his outstanding work," said Dietmar Hopp. It was the TSG patron himself who appointed Alexander Rosen to the sporting management team 10 years ago, when the club was facing a serious relegation threat. Rosen has impressed in recent years not only thanks to his involvement in the sporting successes of the club's first-team and an enormous transfer surplus; the 44-year-old father is also largely responsible for TSG's outstanding youth work. Before managing the Bundesliga team, he worked as the head of the youth academy and co-designed the TSG path, which has conveyed the club's sporting philosophy for years and ensures a high level of movement between the academy teams and the Bundesliga team. "Alexander Rosen has been instrumental in shaping this part of our club's DNA over the past decade," said club chairman and co-manager Kristian Baumgärtner. "In his new role as managing director for sport, he will now be able to continue this task with greater responsibility and keep driving the sporting development forward for the benefit of all fans, staff and supporters of our TSG."
