Ten-man TSG lose in Gladbach
Personnel & tactics:
Head coach André Breitenreiter made two changes to the starting XI that ran out 2-0 winners away to SV Rödinghausen in the DFB-Pokal, with Georginio and Ozan Kabak beginning in place of Jacob Bruun Larsen and Benjamin Hübner. Kabak lined up alongside Kevin Vogt and Stefan Posch in a back three in front of goalie Oliver Baumann. Pavel Kadeřábek and Robert Skov kept their positions at wing-back, with Diadie Samassékou in the holding role in front of the defence. In front of him were Grischa Prömel and Christoph Baumgartner, while Georginio and Andrej Kramarić were charged with providing the attacking threat.
TSG reacted to Posch's dismissal in the 24th minute and brought on Stanley Nsoki to replace Samassékou, who was already on a yellow card. Prömel dropped back into the No. 6 role, leaving Baumgartner as the sole No. 8. Hoffenheim made a double substitution in the 64th minute, with Georginio and Kadeřábek making way for Jacob Bruun Larsen and Kevin Akpoguma. Muhammed Damar then made his Bundesliga debut in the 81st minute, entering the fray with Sebastian Rudy, as Kramarić and Baumgartner came off.
Moment of the match:
The goal for 2-1: TSG were fervently defending their goal and hoping to come away with a point, but Gladbach found a gap in the 71st minute and scored via Marcus Thuram. Hoffenheim could not come back after that.

Match highlights
The 10 men go ahead
TSG take the lead once a man down: Georginio breaks through nicely down the right and squares the ball. It takes a deflection into the path of Kramarić, who touches it to Skov. His shot from close range beats Sommer and nestles in the net.
Almost an equaliser
Gladbach's biggest chance so far: Plea cuts into the middle from the left and shoots from just over 20 metres but fires it narrowly off target.
The Gladbach leveller
A corner kick produces the leveller. The cross sails towards the back post, where the ball is headed back into the centre. Bensebaini is afforded too much space and scores via a bicycle kick.
Lucky break for TSG
What an emotional rollercoaster. Baumgartner brilliantly wins the ball back and squares it to Kramarić, but the striker fails to pull the trigger and the chance is wasted. Instead, Gladbach counter and Hofmann lays it off to Scally, whose strike hits the woodwork.
Strong save from Baumann
Plea again cuts into the centre from the left and targets the far corner, but Baumann extends himself and makes a strong save. Some fans were practically waiting for the net to bulge.
Gladbach take the lead
Gladbach unlock the door with around 20 minutes remaining. Thuram gets slightly too much space in the box and shoots left-footed into the far corner from a left-sided position.
The clincher
That goal clinches it. Plea nicely lobs the ball in behind the defence. Elvedi brings it under control and scores from a centre-right position. 3-1 to the home side.
