Youth Ambassadors: Kick-Off in Kenia
"Football as it should be" – that was the motto of the football camp "Bundesliga Youth Ambassadors" in Kenya, which TSG Hoffenheim organised together with Bundesliga International and "streetfootballworld". From 28 February to 3 March, a TSG delegation travelled to Nairobi to support the five-day event.
Football serves as a catalyst for social change and this is based on the idea that sport not only moves people, but also makes life in the community more positive. TSG Hoffenheim, as a leading innovator in German football, trains these ambassadors aged between 18 and 25 and gives them a better understanding of what the Bundesliga is all about and its training principles. The event in Nairobi marked the start of a comprehensive training program for the 35 men and women taking part.
Tony Mamodaly, Head of International Operations at TSG Hoffenheim, was delighted: "The people of Nairobi were incredibly friendly and warm. The response from all those involved was overwhelming. The enthusiasm, gratitude and sheer joy of the 35 ambassadors from the Nairobi townships about our involvement here was absolutely breathtaking. As a club, this has strengthened our belief that we really can make a difference here." During the five-day kick-off of the project, the events focused not only on football training, but also on "Sport4Development" topics and video coaching. Maximilian Roth (coach at the TSG football school) also gave a positive summary: "The five days in Nairobi were another great experience. We, as coaches, are learning all the time too. It is a great privilege to be part of this project."
