Amiri: ''Now we want to go all the way''
After his exceptional performance in the semi-final against Romania (4-2), it is with full anticipation that Nadiem Amiri is looking towards Sunday's final against Spain (kick-off 20:45 CET, broadcast live in Germany on ARD). Amiri, who scored a brace against Romania, is hoping to retain the title won back in 2017: ''What a match. What a team. Now we want to go all the way and defend our title.''
Coach Stefan Kuntz's side will now face Spain in the final being held in Udine. For the Germany coach: ''Spain are the slight favourites,'' but he also went on to add that: ''That doesn't interest us. We want to lift the trophy.''
Löw to attend final
Regardless of the outcome of the final, the U21 team have played their way into the hearts of the fans - as well as caught the eye of senior national coach Joachim Löw, who commented: ''We will no doubt continue to savour the performances of many of these players beyond U21 level.'' The 59-year-old will be present in the stands for Sunday's match.
