Unbeaten run ends as TSG lose to Bayern
Personnel & tactics
Julian Nagelsmann made four changes to the starting XI that faced 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the final match before Christmas. Oliver Baumann remained between the sticks while Stefan Posch, Kevin Vogt and Benjamin Hübner lined up in an unchanged back three. Pavel Kaderabek returned to the starting line-up at right-back, while Nico Schulz retained his place on the left flank.
The central midfield consisted of two more players − Andrej Kramaric and Bittencourt − who didn't start that Matchday 17 clash. They were joined in the middle of the park by Kerem Demirbay while Ishak Belfodil started in attack alongside Joelinton, who had missed the Mainz match with a knock.
TSG made a double substitution in the 56th minute with Florian Grillitsch and Dennis Geiger replacing Vogt and Demirbay. "Hoffe" subsequently switched to a back four. The third and final change came when Nagelsmann brought on Adam Szalai for Joelinton on the 79-minute mark.
Moment of the match
The third and final Bayern goal by Robert Lewandowski in the 87th minute killed the game.
Number of the game: 100
The 3-1 defeat against Bayern was the 100th time Julian Nagelsmann has overseen a Bundesliga match as a coach. The 31-year-old is the youngest tactician − and the first at TSG − to reach this landmark.
