Kramaric heads Croatia into the World Cup playoffs
Croatia and its superstars, Luka Modric, Mario Mandzukic and Ivan Rakitic, played in Kiev against Ukraine. The two teams lay in joint-third, equal on 17 points, though in case of a draw, Croatia would have gone through to the playoffs thanks to a superior goal difference. In an offensive match with plenty of chances for both sides, TSG striker Kramaric made the difference. His 62nd minute header from a Modric cross broke the deadlock. Eight minutes later, he was pivotal in setting up Croatia’s second goal, which Rakitic converted.
Florian Grillitsch and Austria were also successful in their final World Cup qualifier, beating Moldova 1-0. TSG midfielder, Grillitsch, played the full 90, while Louis Schaub scored the only goal of the night in the 59th minute to ensure a successful conclusion to the campaign, though Austria, who finished fourth in the group, did not qualify for the Russia 2018.
Meris Skenderovic was the final TSG representative on international duty. Playing for Montenegro U21s, he played the full 90 but could not prevent his team losing 3-1 at home against Slovenia.
