Frankfurt match reaction
Julian Nagelsmann: We were the better team in the first half. We really should have taken the lead early on. We played the better football without question. Frankfurt put more pressure on us after the break. They pressed us well and we were sluggish on the pitch. We were able to get around their pressing a few times but we couldn’t find a way through. There were a lot of incidents and events that have no place on the pitch. I know David Abraham well and I rate him a lot, but that foul on Sandro Wagner was ridiculous. He’s deliberately hit him in the face. I praised my team during the break for not reacting emotionally to the way Frankfurt were acting.
Niko Kovac: Credit to TSG, who are also unbeaten after 14 matches. We knew full well that Hoffenheim are a very strong team. We certainly had some good chances in the first half and we didn’t let them get in behind us, something we also managed in the second half. We increased the pressure on them after the break. On balance it’s a decent result. The emotions that developed in this game are part of football. We don’t want to place too much emphasis on that.
Sandro Wagner: I still have a headache. The Eintracht fans definitely like to express their anger. It was a nasty game. A lot of incidents were tricky to assess. We wanted to win but we couldn’t manage it. However we are happy to come away with a point. Nothing really happened in terms of Chandler’s red card. I didn’t really get it. I hope he won’t be suspended for a long time by the DFB.
Benjamin Hübner: You could see from the beginning today that it was going to be a fierce match. There were loads of challenges and the game didn’t flow at all. Eintracht wanted to stop us from playing and they did very well at making it difficult for us.
Mark Uth: I think we played it out from the back really well but we weren’t able to find those clear-cut chances. It was the same for Frankfurt, so 0-0 is a fair result. We wanted to come away with more but we can live with a point. We had no panache to our game in the second half and didn’t play well. Now we need to prepare for the Dortmund game.
Oliver Baumann: The first half went well, both in terms of the football we played and our stability. Overall we created too few chances. Fabian only got my feet when he fouled me but I didn’t stay down, got up and called for him to be booked. I don’t like it when stuff like that happens. The match got really hectic after the break.
Alex Meier: It would have been crazy to have sent off Chandler. That’s so petty. There were lots of small fouls at the beginning that didn’t receive any bookings, so things only started to develop. Both sides wanted to win the game. It can be like that sometimes but now it’s forgotten.
