Pre-season training underway

TSG held their first public training session in Zuzenhausen ahead of the 2016/17 Bundesliga campaign on Sunday afternoon. Manager Julian Nagelsmann put 22 Hoffenheim players through their paces in front of 500 fans.

The manager was pleased with how the almost hour-long session went: "The players made good first impressions. All of them were engaged and worked well. But that’s exactly what I expect."

New signings Sandro Wagner, Benjamin Hübner, Kevin Vogt, Marco Terrazzino and Lukas Rupp were all part of the group: "The newcomers all got along fine. I already know them from the individual transfer discussions and am convinced that they will fit in well with the group and quickly establish themselves. Today’s opening training session showed just that as everything worked well and ran smoothly."

Alexander Rosen, TSG director of first team football, was delighted with the turnout of TSG fans: "That is a good sign." Manager Nagelsmann is already looking ahead - on Monday, TSG travel to the first of their two training camps in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. "We don’t want to hold a fitness and running-based camp but will instead do a lot of drills with the ball and work on specific elements for the upcoming season."

Sandro Wagner pulled on a TSG shirt for the first time in the opening session: "I’ll use every session to get in shape, reach top form and convince the manager to pick me. Intensive and important weeks lie ahead."

The highlight for the fans present came at the end of the training session - the entire squad as well as the coaching staff took the time to sign autographs and have photos taken. It was an all-round successful start to the new season.
