Rudy makes appearance in draw against Australia

Germany drew 2-2 in their friendly with Australia, which saw Sebastian Rudy come on at half time in place of Holger Badstuber.

Germany manager Joachim Löw decided not to start Sebastian Rudy in Kaiserslautern as Hoffenheim's holding midfielder looked on from the bench with Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Müller and Toni Kroos. Rudy watched on as both sides had chances in an exciting and even game. Germany took the lead after 17 minutes through Marco Reus but Australia were back on level terms before the break as James Troisi headed home a deserved equaliser five minutes before half time.

Joachim Löw brought Rudy on at half time in his usual position for Germany – right back. However, Jedinak fired the Socceroos in front from a free kick not long after the restart. Rudy became more attacking as the game went on and had a good chance after 72 minutes but his shot from 12 yards was blocked. However, substitute Lukas Podolski's left-footed effort nine minutes before the final whistle was not. André Schürrle provided the assist and Podolski fired home the equaliser.
