Setback for Bosnia - Norway lose - Vestergaard scores
Bosnia-Herzegovina had a difficult start to their European Championship qualifying campaign. Safet Susic's World Cup participants lost 2-1 to Cyprus in Zenica.
TSG defender Ermin Bicakcic was in the starting XI. Sejad Salihovic was an unused substitute. It was a frustrating night for the Bosnians, who found themselves behind, despite taking an early lead through Vedad Ibisevic. They had a great chance to equalise in the final few seconds, but Pjanic missed a 90th-minute penalty.
Tarik Elyounoussi and his Norwegian teammates also lost their first qualifier, falling to a 2-0 defeat to Italy in Oslo. Elyounoussi came on as a 50th-minute substitute for the hosts.
In the final qualifier for next year's European U21 Championship in the Czech Republic, the Danes, captained by Jannik Vestergaard, put on a show. They beat Bulgaria 7-1 in front of 3,000 fans in Aalborg. The TSG defender played the full 90 minutes and scored in the 42nd, heading in Nicolaj Thompson's corner to make it 4-0.
