Oliver Baumann: “I practically interrogated Sebastian Rudy”

Oliver Baumann has left SC Freiburg after more than ten years at the club. He has officially been a TSG player since 1st July. The goalkeeper gave his first interview in Hoffenheim colours at the training camp in Westerburg.

Hello Oli, how was your summer?

Oliver Baumann: I had a great summer. I stayed with my family and went to the south of France for ten days. I was really able to recuperate.

And now you're raring to get started.

Baumann: Of course. I have never had such a long break. So now it can get going: I'm itching to start!

Did that feeling grow on Sunday at the kit presentation? You were met with a lot of support.

Baumann: I didn't expect it. It was such a great experience to be greeted by the fans like that. It's evident that they have such a passion for the club and are anticipating the start of the season.

Who did you know from the team before your move to TSG?

Baumann: Sebastian Rudy and Kevin Volland from the Germany U21s. Then I got to know Andi Beck and Jannik Vestergaard at Basti's wedding. Basti knew before the transfer that I was in contact with TSG. I spoke with and practically interrogated him. He confirmed the impression I already had of the club.
